Dr. Peter Ceulemans
Dr. P. Ceulemans obtained his degree as medical doctor in 1993 on the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He was trained in general surgery with special interest in cardiothoracic surgery and reconstructive surgery; part of this training was obtained in the St. Antonius Ziekenhuis Nieuwegein in the Netherlands in the department of thoracic surgery of Dr. F.E. Vermeulen. After board certification as a general surgeon, he started his training in plastic surgery in the University Hospital Ghent with Prof. Dr. S. Monstrey. His specific fields of interest were microsurgery and reconstruction of the breast and genital area, beside general plastic surgery. After board qualification, he did a fellowship in facial surgery in the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands with Prof. Dr. S. Hovius.
Since August 2004 his plastic surgery practice is established in the Imeldaziekenhuis in Bonheiden in association with Dr. A. Missotten. His private practice is focused on facial and breast surgery (reconstructive and aesthetic). He is also assistant professor for transgender and urogenital surgery in the University Hospital Ghent in collaboration with Prof. Dr. S. Monstrey.
He is fellow of the Collegium Chirurgicum Plasticum (CCP) and Diplomate of the European Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the Royal Belgian Society for Plastic Surgery, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and the World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (WSRM).
Dr. P. Ceulemans is author and co-author of numerous scientific publications in renowned national and international journals, author and co-author in a number of bookchapters concerning reconstructive microsurgery, and speaker in national and international meetings.
Dr. P. Ceulemans is an authority in the field of genital surgery and has special interest in autologous breast reconstruction ( DIEAP flap, SGAP flap, TDAP flap).
